For the second year running, Skydive Australia have teamed up with JDRF to help raise funds for type one diabetes research.
Type 1 diabetes (T1D) is a lifelong autoimmune condition that destroys the body’s ability to process sugar by attacking the beta cells in the pancreas that produce insulin. Insulin helps convert sugar into the fuel that our bodies need. Without insulin, sugar builds up in the bloodstream in life-threatening amounts. Since people with T1D cannot produce insulin naturally, they must take it either through multiple daily injections or from an insulin pump.
Last year, $99,000 was raised and this year, we have expanded our drop zones and aim to raise $300,000!
You can Jump for JDRF at the following Skydive Australia drop zones:
- Sydney-Wollongong (NSW)
- Newcastle (NSW)
- Noosa (QLD)
- Cairns (QLD)
- Perth – Rockingham (WA)
- Yarra Valley (VIC)
- St Kilda (VIC)
With over 130, 000+ Australians living with T1D and eight being newly diagnosed every day, it’s never been more important to raise funds and awareness about this condition.
